CLAIRE HOUSE WATER FEATURE
NAME : Claire House Water Feature DATE : 1999 CLIENT : Claire House LOCATION : Clatterbridge
Brief
An interactive sculpture which incorporates glass, water and aluminium elements created for Claire House Children’s Hospice in Clatterbridge, Merseyside.
The sculpture was sited in the courtyard garden of Claire House, overlooked by all the children’s bedrooms. An enclosed shape, formed of glass was developed with the idea of creating a den or secret place for the children and their family members. The internal space forming the den, is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair and from here the child is surrounded by colour, light and water. The sculpture is lit up at night from below the glass, adding to the magical effect.
Claire House Children’s Hospice was officially opened in Spring 1999 by The Duchess of Gloucester.
