Makes for Peace

Celebrating Christ and the City, this one metre diameter forged steel and glass wall sculpture, was commissioned by the Rt Rev. Dr James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool. It is sited in the private chapel of Bishops House in Woolton.

The sculpture is inspired by Christ’s passion for the city and the biblical verse from Luke 19:42, which holds special significance for Bishop James and is etched into the glass disc.

The steel element shows the contour and outline of the the River Mersey and Estuary, with the outstretched arm of Christ with his cross, casting a protective shadow over Merseyside.
